Brampton’s Luis Valdivia – Canadian Boxing Champ – Sept 24th

Canada has a rich boxing history dating back to the days of George Chuvalo who had two thrilling matches versus Muhammad Ali, after which Ali claimed “he’s the toughest guy I’ve ever fought.” Fast forward to 2016, the legacy continues through Luis Valdivia, a Brampton native and three time amateur Ontario champion who turned pro in 2012.

“He’s got a little bit of De La Hoya in him, he’s got a little bit of Shawn O’Sullivan, he’s got some George Chuvalo, he’s got the Tyson, he’s got everything,” explains his coach and promoter John Melich.

On September 24th, Valdivia will be going up against Jesus Ortega at the Hershey Centre. Tickets to the fight are available by visiting the Champions Boxing Club at 8550 Torbram Rd, Unit 7,  at the Hershey Centre, or through Ticketmaster.

We’re joined in this episode of Brampton Focus by Luis Valdivia and his coach John Melich. They talk about the fight and what it’s taken to get to the elite level in Boxing.
