Brampton had its first-ever fashion week and it certainly did not disappoint! Thanks to the huge turnout, Brampton Fashion Week truly united designers, icons, stylists and models from all over the GTA at their runway show this Saturday at the Brampton Soccer Center (July 20, 2019). It provided a culturally-rich platform for local designers such as SuzyQ Jewels, Grooms Day and 401 Cosmic to showcase the talent and diversity prevalent in our city.
One of the designers, Keeria Monteith, from Kee&kee. Co discussed her experience at the show: “To come from Brampton and to see the background in fashion we have is an amazing experience. And now at least people know Brampton, we’re talented, there’s designers here. It’s a great feeling! Incredible! I’ve never been more happy for a fashion week in my life!”
The fashion show not only highlighted the work done by designers but also recognized other members of the industry, from the makeup artists to the planning committee (who was the backbone of the show). This included Mayor Patrick Brown, who modeled a suit by Stava’s Menswear, Miss Brampton, Rajinder Matharoo, who spoke a few words in honour of the effort put into the show, and Councillor Rowena Santos, who strutted down the runway wearing a piece from Rice Apparel’s collection.
With a dance performance from 401 Cosmic as well as a live music performance by local star, Ashton, the event truly showcased the potential and talent in our very own city, setting the bar quite high for Brampton Fashion Week’s future shows!
