Local Soccer Stars to Take on the World

Brampton soccer players Jordan Hendriks (age 12) and Tremaine Henry (age 11) have made it onto Team Canada and will compete at the Danone Nations Cup world final taking place in New York this September. The two local athletes join 10 other boys from Quebec and Ontario, and a 12 member girls team that will also compete. Jordan and Tremaine have made their mark in the Brampton U12 soccer community, and now they’re set to take on the world.

“The calibre of soccer demonstrated by these boys and girls is remarkable, and showcases both the level of talent and quality of work being done at the club level in Canada. The 2017 Danone Nations Cup national final was an unforgettable experience for these young athletes, who have proven they have what it takes to represent Canada on the international stage,” said Dean Howie, Danone Nations Cup Team Canada coach since 2001

Initiated by Danone in 1999, the Danone Nations Cup is the world’s biggest soccer tournament for children between the ages of 10 and 12. Since its first edition, the international competition has given hundreds of Canadian children the opportunity to represent their country on the world stage. With a focus on fair play, the Danone Nations Cup is a unique and memorable experience for every participant, representing their country internationally. Thousands of young Canadians participate in the program’s selection process every year, with players evaluated based on both exceptional playing skills and team spirit.
