Regional Councillor Medeiros Looks to the Future

Brampton Rookie Regional Councillor Martin Medeiros for Wards 3 and 4 reflects on the challenges he has faced in representing residents and dealing with council members.

Going into his third year, Councillor Medeiros has been an outspoken opponent of wasteful spending, saying that “I believe in what I vote for.” Despite dark clouds that still hang over City Hall from a divided council, Councillor Medeiros believes that healthy debate is necessary and productive.

From the beginning of this Council term there has been a list of questionable spending decisions, including a self voted 7% pay raise, a $1.5 Million bailout for the privately owned Brampton Beast, and a missing 100 pages of the 2017 budget with tax dollars allocated for staff gym, artwork, signage and office renovations. Councillor Medeiros addresses these issues and what he sees as the biggest challenges going forward.
