Peel Police have impounded 2 tow trucks in Brampton for stunt driving. The first was caught driving at 127 km/h at Queen and Dixie. Later, another tow truck was caught driving at 110 km/h at Torbram and William Parkway. In both of these areas, the posted speed limit is 60 km/h.

Earlier today, a third driver was stopped by police and issued a court summons for stunting. The driver was travelling at 140 km/h in a 60 km/h zone on Queen St. near Highway 410. The vehicle was impounded and the driver’s license was suspended for 7 days.

The COVID-19 pandemic has reduced the amount of traffic, leading to more stunt driving and speeding on the roads. Earlier this year, a 19-year-old driver was caught by the Ontario Provincial Police driving at 308 km/h on the QEW

Nevertheless, penalties are still being enforced. Stunt driving in Ontario has a minimum penalty for first-time offenders of $2,000. Convicted stunt drivers may also face 6 months in jail and a 2-year license suspension.
