On July 28th a large group of Peel high school students gathered at Studio 89 for Stay Woke, an open mic event for youth. Organized by Bianca Modi and Maliha Khan, the two 17-year-olds planned for 6 months, inspired to provide other youth a platform to share their passions and discuss social issues. Some topics discussed were rape culture, mental health, racial religious stereotyping, healthy living, youth leadership, white privilege and more. As for their next event, they plan on having one in December, location is yet to be determined.
