Women in Politics: Ending the Old Boy’s Club

Peel Region has made gains in recent years when it comes to women ascending to the top post in political, government and community agencies. However, these gains can quickly erode without ongoing support to encourage more women to enter politics and push for representation. Mayor Bonnie Crombie of Mississauga says that “we really need more smart, strong-willed and successful women in politics” while conceding that “work-life balance is always a challenge.”

In this episode of Brampton Focus, we speak with successful women from Women in Politics – Peel. We also look at the need for organizations like Equal Voice; a national organization dedicated to getting more women elected into all levels of politics. Interviews with Mayor Bonnie Crombie, Rowena Santos, Aman Gill and Laura Robinson.

Upcoming Event: How to Hate Politics  at 7pm on Thursday April 28th at Mississauga City Hall. A celebration of women in politics and how you can get involved to transform politics.
