Dream Team for Brampton Beast

Brampton’s East Coast Hockey League (ECHL) team, the Brampton Beast, proudly announced that Spiros Anastas has accepted the position of Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations for the franchise. He will become the team’s fourth Head Coach, replacing Colin Chaulk, who is now the Assistant Coach of the Belleville Senators.

The news was delivered to fans at a Brampton Beast press conference held at the CAA Centre last Wednesday (July 17, 2019). Anastas was joined by Assistant Coach, Duncan Dalmao, and President and Co-owner of Cosmos Sports & Entertainment, Cary Kaplan at the event.

“My family and I are thrilled to be joining the Beast family,” said Anastas, who has traveled across the continent four times in his career and looks forward to coming home this season. The Toronto native spent the past season as the Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations for the South Carolina Stingrays, leading the team to a grand total of 76 points, and a competitive edge in the 2018-19 Kelly Cup playoffs.

Cary Kaplan told fans that Anastas was chosen for his unmatched resume, after evaluating nearly 100 applicants for the position. Anastas boasts an impressive career with success in the ECHL, American Hockey League (AHL), USports and at the International level. Kaplan later revealed that the search for Assistant Coach was nowhere near as extensive. Duncan Dalmao, a former professional hockey player and ECHL “Defenseman of the Year”, was strongly endorsed by the Beast’s leadership team and is expected to form a dynamic duo with Head Coach Anastas.

The Brampton Beast and all of their fans are eager for the 2019-2020 season to begin! After a close race this past season, the team is hungry for a championship. The Beast will open what is expected to be their best season yet on Saturday, October 12, 2019 against the Toledo Walleye.
