On July 26, William Osler Health System marked the completion of over 100,000 COVID-19 tests across all sites in Brampton and Etobicoke. Osler has completed more tests than any hospital in Ontario and was one of the first hospitals to open a COVID-19 Assessment Centre at the beginning of the pandemic. In July, Osler tested approximately 1200 people per day.
Executive Vice President of Clinical Operations Kiki Ferrari said that testing is critically important, “particularly in this community as it continues to be challenged by higher numbers of COVID-19 cases.” Ferrari added that “Osler is pleased to be working with Ontario Health, the City of Brampton, local public health units, and health organizations across the region to make testing more convenient and accessible.”
The original Brampton walk-in Assessment Centre was relocated to a drive-thru set-up in the north parking lot of the South Fletcher’s Sportsplex. The new location provided Bramptonians with a more convenient option for testing. Since this new set-up was established in mid-June, the Centre has been completing around 540 tests daily.
All William Osler Assessment Centres are open 7 days a week from 8:00 am to 6:00 pm. Anyone who wants to get tested for COVID-19 can do so without a referral from a medical professional.
